9178   From Oley Valley, PA long held in a private collection of early painted pieces, a sensational table top slant lid box with leather hinges.  The square nail construction and shrinkage in the wood date it to the mid 1800’s, possibly earlier.  The paint now well oxidized is a mustard ground with sunburst strokes in tomato red and Windsor green.  With the exception of the back and bottom all exterior surfaces are decorated.  Truly spectacular wherever it calls home.  Size: 16”L x 11.25”W x with a tapered height back to front of 8” to 4.75”.   $795.00

9171   From an old order Amish home near Paradise, PA an early 1900’s decorated pine document box.  In its original apple green paint, although muted by a coat of well aged varnish, it comes to life with free hand pin stripes in tomato red and persimmon orange.  Its applied moldings differ in profile between the lid and the bottom but clearly resembles a six board blanket chest.  Untouched with perfect proportions it is indeed plain but elegant.  Size: 14.75”L x 5.75”W x 3.75”H.   $220.00

9160   An early 1800’s Pennsylvania flat top chest in its original rich green paint with hand wrought hardware including butt hinges, twisted rod side grips on chamfered corner plates secured with four hand cut screws each and an outstanding heart shaped escutcheon.  Construction throughout is with hand drawn square nails.  Hand plan marks abound on all surfaces.  The lock is compete and original.  As it was intended originally it remains clean, sturdy and ready for storage.  Size: 24”L x 12.25”W x 9”H   $550.00

9148   From the late 19th or early 20th century and found in Massachusetts a turned wooden canister in its original gray paint.  There is a turned groove on the lower section which may be there to serve as a grip.  A clean, diminutive piece of treenware free of any cracks to stash small treasures.   Size: 3.25”W x 3.5”H   $100.00

9001   Mid 19th Century PA six board painted blanket chest with vibrant grain decoration on top, front and sides.  Constructed of pine and poplar with turned feet mortised into the bottom, grab lock, hand wrought hinges and internal lidded well.  Very clean and ready for storage.  Size: 45”L x 23”W x 26H   $525.00

  9117   A New York/New England 1830 – 40’s single door chimney cupboard in original paint with sponged vinegar paint decoration.  Clean, wonderfully proportioned with original hardware, square nails and two removable shelves.  Nicely detailed in paint application and construction.  Size:  23”L x 14”W x 48”H   $1300.00

9058   19th century second quarter open dry sink with its original green painted case with a 5” deep well.  It has a single removable shelf resting on early horizontal wood runners.  The height from the inside base to the shelf bottom is 12.5” and from the shelf to bottom upwards beneath the well is 9.75”.  Great proportions and profile.   Size: 36”L x 16.5”W x 30.5”H   $875.00

9017  1800’s child’s slanted lift top desk in old red paint over earlier light blue.  Original brass hinges and brass hasp and on each side there is a singular round cutout handle.  The back of the kneehole is closed.  A nice accent piece or still useful as a desk.  Size:  19.5”L x 14.5”W x 24.5”H   $125.00

9059   Discovered in North Carolina a late 1800’s storage box of mixed woods chestnut, pine and poplar in nice early blue over traces of mustard paint.  Dove tailed construction with original brass hinges and iron lock with fantastic carved relief appliqué on lid, front and sides.  Very clean and functional.  Size: 13.5”L x 9”W x 8”H   $625.00

9085   First quarter 19th century painted/decorated storage box with five compartments.  It is very detailed and square nailed throughout.  Whimsical free hand designs on lid, front and sides.  Beautiful hand planed marks visible on the lid. Sometime later a family genealogy on paper was added to the underside of the lid.  It is flawless, completely original with no repairs.   Size: 14.25"L x 10"W x 4"H   $795.00
