9288   In the form of an acorn a ca. 1870 cast iron hitching post finial discovered appropriately in Kentucky’s horse country.  Original to this well oxidized piece is its lovely white now putty colored paint.  Securely in place as when the day it was attached is the original horse tie ring.  Signed on the lower portion at the base on opposite sides are the initials J. C. and B.  An uncommon form whose symbolism is often associated with strength, potential and longevity.  Although exposed to the elements and beasts for years it remains in very, very fine condition.  Size: 9.5”H x 7”W (at center) x 5”W (at base)
